Debra is a recent graduate from Nova Scotia’s first ever acupuncture program offered through Eastern College. This program, taken from the well established, 3-year diploma program at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton, AB, was brought to NS after its tremendous success in NFLD. Debra was first exposed to the profound effects of acupuncture treatment in 1997 during her career as a physiotherapist when she took part in acupuncture training courses and began using it as a tool in her practice. Debra is eager to share her new, expanded knowledge and to WOW her clients with the impact of this ancient, wondrous medicine. From minor aches and pains to multi-symptom disorders, from general fatigue to advance mental health conditions, acupuncture can set you on the road to recovery and rebalance!
Debra began her career in healthcare in 1995 when she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Physiotherapy. After 10 years of clinical practice, Debra joined the teaching staff at Eastern College here in Halifax, NS where she piloted the first ever Nova Scotian-based Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist Assistant program. Eventually, Debra accepted the role of coordinating the program as it expanded to other campuses across Atlantic Canada. During the earlier years instructing, Debra also obtained her Personal Fitness Trainer certificate from the ISSA and her Doula Certificate from the Planned Parenting Group here in Halifax.
When the Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture program took its provincial roots at Eastern College two years ago, Debra jumped at the opportunity to expand her knowledge and expertise in this area. As Debra approaches the end of her program, she has honors status, over 600 hours of clinical TCM experience and has been the recipient of a National Scholarship for acupuncture students.
In July of 2011, Debra is thrilled to become a part of the Total Kneads healthcare team. Her Western and Eastern medicine backgrounds allow her to offer clients a holistic and alternative option to managing health. - Wednesday 8am - 5pm
- Friday 2pm - 8pm
