Systemic Deep Tissue Therapy

Systemic Deep Tissue Therapy is a relatively new (30 years), comprehensive treatment developed by Armand Ayaltin, R.M.T. in Vancouver, B.C. It has been adapted and modified, but the philosophy has remained the similar, by Gary Schweitzer, R.M.T.

During a deep tissue massage you are undressed and laying on a massage table under sheets. You will remain covered throughout the treatment except for the treated area. Oils are used and the body is often positioned to facilitate a deeper access to affected areas.

The treatment is systemic in its approach to the body and its condition. Symptoms are assessed and addressed each session. The depth of the treatment refers to accessing the tissues at the level of dysfunction rather than high pressure.

It is recommended that you do not do vigorous exercise after a massage treatment and it is best to schedule your treatment at least two hours after or one hour before eating to avoid any physiological discomfort. Often muscular discomfort is felt after a deep treatment but this usually restores itself after a day or two.
